Where's Your Crayon?

Art As Birth

The process of creating art is similar to giving birth.
We first conceive the idea in our minds and then we give it life by putting pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard or brush to canvas. During the physical process of creation we labor over our work which doesn't feel much like work, it feels as though we are compelled by some force greater than ourselves. This higher voice guides our fingers or our actions and it will not allow us to rest until the completion.
And we give birth...
To the essence of who we are...
